Complementary Procedures:
An Overview of Your Breast Surgical Options
Breast Lift
During a breast lift, Dr. Condoleon will trim away excess skin and reposition your breasts higher on your chest. If necessary, he will reshape your areolas for a natural, symmetrical appearance. This procedure is a perfect match for people with sagging breasts that result from aging, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
Breast Reduction
If you have oversized breasts that cause chronic pain, make fashion a chore, and keep you from exercising, Dr. Condoleon at SOMA can help! By performing a breast reduction, he can remove extra tissue and give you a slimmer, more balanced profile.
Breast Reconstruction
Injury, illness, and genetics can all cause dissatisfaction with your chest’s appearance. Breast reconstruction repairs the damage to give you a more natural shape and size. As you work with the compassionate team at SOMA, we’ll create a surgical plan to help you rebuild your figure.

Recovery Process
What to Expect
After we complete your breast lift in Des Moines, you’ll experience some postoperative symptoms while you heal.
- During the first 24 hours, you may notice some blood-tinged drainage at the incision sites. Change your bandages and dressings as necessary to keep the incisions clean and dry.
- For the next few weeks, you may experience some bruising and swelling. Wear your supportive bra 24/7 to reduce swelling and help your body heal quicker.
- Your surgical scars may appear red for the next few months. They’ll fade as they heal. Avoid exposing your scars to direct sunlight and wear sunscreen to prevent discoloration.
Activity
During the first week, your only concern should be resting and recovering. You can walk around the house and go up and down stairs, but don’t engage in any strenuous activities. Don’t lift anything heavier than 5 lbs. This includes vacuums, grocery bags, children, etc.
Especially during the early stages of your recovery, avoid sitting for more than 2 hours at a time. Throughout the day, get up every 2 hours and walk around for at least 10 minutes. This helps prevent blood clots from forming.
Move slowly whenever you get up or change positions. If you start to feel dizzy or lightheaded, sit or lie down and elevate your feet.
For 4 weeks after your breast lift in Des Moines, do not raise your arms above your head. Avoid exercise and don’t lift anything heavier than 15 lbs. Don’t try to return to your normal routine too quickly; reach out to friends and family for help around the house if needed.
Many patients have fully recovered about 6 weeks after their procedure. If you’re cleared by Dr. Condoleon, you can start resuming your usual activities during this time. Start off slow and gradually build up to your normal routine.
Bathing
Do not submerge your incisions in water until you have clearance from your medical team. Bathe by taking showers, and do not go swimming or use a hot tub. While showering, do not scrub at your incisions. Clean your breasts gently, and make sure to reapply your supportive bra once you get out.
Taking Care of Your Incisions
Before sending you home from your breast lift in Des Moines, we will dress your incisions with bandages to absorb drainage and apply pressure. Keep this dressing dry for the next 24 hours. Change the dressing every day for the next few days, or until the drainage stops.
